I've posted this recipe before, but I think it got lost among all the other Thanksgiving favorites, so I decided to give it it's own post.
My Great Grandma's mashed potatoes:
5 lbs of potatoes
3 sticks of butter
milk
salt, pepper,
garlic powder
nutmeg
Peel and chop potatoes. Boil until tender and drain.
Add butter and enough milk to make them smooth. Mash with a hand or stand mixer. I usually start with 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and a good amount of fresh ground pepper and mix on high. Taste and add more seasonings as needed (I ALWAYS need more).
