Eat The World-France

This was our first non-catch-up month, and we generally eat quite a bit of French food, so we did more than just a dinner this month.
France:
Beef Bourganion over Garlic Mashed Potatoes with pearl onions
French Bread with French Butter and Brie

French butter and Brie
French LU Cookies (a staple at our house)
We built an Eiffel tower from cookies
Almond Galette with Cafe Au Lait

 Croissants and Hot Chocolate
Pots De Creme (we were going to make these at home, but when I saw them in the store, decided to save the time!)

Anatomy-Blood

Did you know red blood cells only live 4 months, but travel 930 miles around your body during that short time!
We have 6 quarts of blood in our bodies!

Earl Grey Tea and Hot Milk Cake for dessert

Japan:(Little Passports)
Udon, Ramen, Rice, Teriyaki, Sushi,
Green Tea and Pocky Sticks

Romania:(Letters From Afar)
 Mamaliga
We forgot to take a photo of this one.

Geography Resources

My daughter has loved ALL things Geography for a while now, and I wanted to share some of our favorite resources.
 1. The Dodsworth Series (Tokyo not pictured). Fun little stories that immerse children in each city, in a fun way.
 2. The Kitty Kat series. These are beautifully illustrated!

3. Letters From Afar
An affordable subscription (Less than $5 a month) to bring a new location to life. These letters and envelopes are beautifully done!

4. Little Passports.
We have been very pleased with the Countries subscription.

State Post Card Project, 2017

Abigail recently became quite interested in Geography, thanks to her beloved Atlas, so we decided to try the Post Card Project brother had done a few years ago. She LOVED it and by the time she had received 3 post cards, had memorized every state!
Her first post card!
Making progress!

 Half way!
Almost done!

A few other resources we used:
Of course we supplemented with lots of stories as well. I tried to modify Read The World, to make a Read The States, but it was more work than I imagined, and we let that go after about 10 states :)

We also tried Little Passports, but by the time we had gotten the starter kit, and the first shipment, she already knew all the states! We may try the World kit, since we have moved on to World Geography!

Learning Hebrew (or other foreign languages)

I wanted to share some of the resources that have been most helpful to me in learning Hebrew. The first 2 links also offer other language, so they may be helpful to you, even if you are not learning Hebrew.

The most helpful has been Mango:
Mango Languages is freely available in thousands of public libraries around the world, offering over 70 FREE foreign language courses (so far).
I love the way the words are color coded, and that I could start learning Biblical words before I had even learned the Hebrew letters.

For quick daily practice, we have really enjoyed Drops.
You only get 5 minutes a day free (and you can earn bonus time). I have found the time limit to actually be a good thing. It is just the right amount to really cement what you have learned in to your brain, without being overloaded.

And to learn the letters, and use them to sound out words very quickly, I have loved

And a non digital resource:
