Apple Crisp is the quintessential fall dessert. So yummy and welcoming and makes the entire house smell amazing! Don’t skip the homemade cinnamon whipped cream. Its so easy and really takes a great dessert to outstanding.
Apple Crisp:
FILLING:
5 Apples cored and chopped into bite sized pieces (I try to use use a mixture of green and red)
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Cinnamon

TOPPING:
1 cup wheat flour
1 stick (1/2 cup) real butter, melted
½ cup brown sugar/succanat
¼ tsp salt

Whipped Cream:
1 pint heavy cream
¼ cup white sugar
Cinnamon
Bake 1 hour at 350 until apples are tender.
While baking put whipped cream ingredients in bowl and whip until it forms soft peaks, refrigerate until ready to use, and serve over warm crisp. Serves 6, can be doubled.
This apple pie sounds weird, but is SOO delicious!
Apple Pie:1 pie crust
2 lbs apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (again a variety really is best)
1 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons white sugar
1/3 cup flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pie spice
½ teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Stir together sour cream and white sugar and pour over apples, mix well and pour into crust filling in any gaps. Melt butter and use remaining ingredients to make streusel and sprinkle it evenly over top of pie. Bake at 375 for 40 minutes. Top with a drizzling of caramel and homemade whipped cream!
Apple Bread
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups of flour
2 cups shredded peeled apples
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup buttermilk

2 cups of flour
2 cups shredded peeled apples
1 cup chopped nuts
Mix together one ingredient at a time in order listed. Pour into 2 buttered loaf pans.
Mix together:1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons of butter
Mix into course crumbs, then add 1/3 cup chopped nuts.
Spread on top of batter. Bake at 350 for 65 minutes.
