I am a Bible scribbler.
I underline, I circle, I write notes...
It helps me to really sink things into my mind.
But I have found that when my Bible is all marked up, I tend to gloss over things because I see my notes and know them so well already that I miss other wisdom that may be in that same passage.
So a few years back I started a new tradition. Each new year I buy a new Bible. I get a fresh canvas and can read the Word with out being distracted. I see things I didn't see before because I had other things around it highlighted.

I keep my highlighted Bible in the living room for easy reference, and donate the previous highlighted Bible. And then I keep my new fresh Bible in my room for personal study.
And I am a big fan of cheap $5 NKVJ Bibles that you can find at Walmart, or your local Christian bookstore. So it isn't a big deal to be buying Bibles so frequently, because they were not expensive to begin with.

What an awesome idea Angel! I am so stealing this, I just got a brand new life recovery bible. I had wanted one because I wanted to learn the 12 step program because my dad is speaker for NA.
ReplyDeleteI also tend to gloss over things because of all the writing and highlighting.
That's a great idea!
