"The worst pains we experience are not those of suffering itself, but of our stubborn resistance to it, our resolute insistence on our own independence."
"Be patient. Wait on the Lord for whatever He appoints, wait quietly, wait trustingly. He holds every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year in His hands. Thank Him in advance for what the future holds, for He is already there."
"Life is likely to continue to hold many forms of torture and dismay for the unhappy person and for all who refuse to receive with thanksgiving instead of complaint the place in life God has chosen for them."
"I'm not asked to understand God's dealings, only trust."
"Learning to pray is learning to trust the wisdom, the power, and the love of our heavenly Father., always so far beyond our dreams. He knows our need and knows ways to meet it that have never entered our heads. Things we feel sure we need for happiness may often lead to our ruin. Things we think will ruin us (the chariots of Egypt, the water of the Red sea...), if we believe what the Father tells us and surrender ourselves into His strong arms, will bring us deliverance and joy."
"If we were given all we wanted here, our hearts would settle for this world rather than the next. God is forever luring us up and away from this one, wooing us to Himself and His kingdom, where we will certainly find what we so keenly long for. "
"Jesus knew when to take action and when to leave things up to His Father. He taught us when to work and watch but never to worry, to do gladly whatever we are given to do, and leave all else with God...Jesus tells us that the seed which was choked out by thorns has fallen into a heart full of worries of this life, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things." (Psalm 16:5, Psalm 27:4, Mark 10:21, Phil 3:13)
"A quiet heart is content with what God gives. It is enough."
"My heart can be at peace. My Father is in charge."
"The secret is Christ in me, not in a different set of circumstances."
~Elisabeth Elliot in Keep a Quiet Heart

I liked the quotes and verses, but the picture of the happy bug was the best. That's what we ought to be.......a smiling bug on wheels that puts out bubbles.....because we are *Trusting Jesus* that is ALL. Our hearts CAN be at peace.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that last quote by Elizabeth Elliot!!!!! So very, very true!
