I just found out you can read the first chapter of The Well here.
And I wanted to share some more with it with you as well! I really can not express how wonderful this book is!
"God is not a book, and He is not words on a screen in a worship service. Jesus is not a religion. He is a Person. He longs to have a personal and intimate relationship with you through the Holy Spirit, who lives inside every believer at salvation. We nurture this relationship by reading God's Word and talking with Him through regular prayer. We practice His presence by thinking and behaving as if He were bodily present with us. We serve others. We obey His commands. Jesus said 'Whoever has My commandments and keeps them it is he who loves Me.' (John 14:21) He saves us, grows us, holds us and sustains us."
"Much of the Christian walk is an act of the will. We can have faith, but we must step out and obey. Our godly actions demonstrate our faith is real (James 2:26)."
"Only God changes people. {We are} to use our talents and strengths for God's glory but not let them get in the way. {We must} make sure the focus stays on Jesus, where it belongs"
"Most of us allow our talents and what we do to determine who we're going to be. Instead, we should seek God with all of our hearts first, and follow His lead toward what we are going to do to glorify Him."
1. Guard your time with God. Feed yourself. Don't depend on others to feed you (Psalm 119:1, 9-11; Proverbs 4:4, James 4:7-8)
2. Set aside a disciplined time for prayer every day, and then continue the conversation throughout the day. Jesus is a Person, not a book. This is a friendship, not a behavior. (Luke 18:1-8; Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
3. Don't carry the chains of your sin and failures. Lay them at the feet of Jesus and refuse to pick the up again. He already knows them anyways. (Psalm 103:1-18, Romans 8:1-11, 37-39)
4. Respond to God's leading. Step out in faith and do the very next thing He says to do, no matter how small or how great. (John 14:21; Hebrews 11:6)
5. Pour into someone else. We're on a journey with God, but we don't take the journey alone. We're all called to discipleship, and discipleship is taking someone with you (Matthew 28:18-20; John 15:13)
